Hawzah News Agency- In its latest report, the London-based watchdog, which monitors freedom of expression worldwide, said the Israeli enemy missiles leveled the two buildings, leaving journalists buried under the rubble — a scene widely condemned locally and internationally as a humanitarian catastrophe and a horrific massacre against the media.
The report highlighted that the strike underscores the perilous situation facing Yemeni journalists amid what it called Israel’s “criminal aggression'', triggering widespread outrage and condemnation from international and local organizations alike.
According to Index on Censorship, the attacks mark a dangerous escalation in the ongoing targeting of journalists and represent an alarming expansion of Israel’s war on the press — extending beyond Gaza to include Yemen.
The organization stressed that such assaults not only violate international humanitarian law but also send a chilling message to journalists across the region: “Nowhere is safe anymore''.
The report further noted that employees of the two media outlets were civilian journalists working under difficult conditions, emphasizing that the bombing appeared to be a veiled warning to surviving members of the press.
In a related context, the organization also drew attention to the growing repression of journalists in Yemen’s southern, Saudi-UAE-occupied provinces. It cited an incident on September 27, when militias of the so-called Southern Transitional Council stormed the headquarters of Aden Al-Ghad newspaper, arresting its editor-in-chief, Fathi bin Lazraq, before releasing him later and shutting down the paper’s office by force.
Index on Censorship documented several other violations against journalists in the occupied areas under the control of the Saudi-UAE coalition and its local proxies.
The organization concluded that Yemeni journalists now face a dual threat — from Israeli enemy bombardments and from repressive forces on the ground — warning that “journalism in Yemen has become a profession written in ink, but paid for in blood''.
The Zionist entity has stepped up its strikes on Yemen in recent weeks, targeting media institutions and personnel following intensified Yemeni military operations in support of Gaza. The attacks, condemned by rights groups, are viewed as part of a broader campaign to restrict reporting and undermine Yemen’s role in the regional conflict.
